As many as one thousand state anganwadi workers from across ther state were staging dharna raising the 8 point charter of demands. talking to reporters they rued that rigth from 2004 they have been doing lots of protest demanding some basic facilities to run the anganwadi centres. But they said nothing has come out. "What is more painful is that as per discussion on November 5, last year the social welfare minister agreed to pay them Rs 300 as salary per month for the anganwadi workers with Rs 200 for their assistants. Even it received Chief Minister's consent On 23rd November. But of no avail," said the protesters. Moreover, some more people were led by the Joint Council of Trade Union staged dharna with some demands. These organiations were from sector, telecom, postal, electricity, state PSUs. Their demand include fresh recruitment in the various department, revival of the state PSUs, industrialisation, withdrawal of new pension scheme, strengthening of the public distribution system in the state. They further sent a memorandum to Chief Minister urging him to look into it.
