Jhulan Puja celebrated

Devotees in Guwahati celebrated the "Jhulan Puja" marking the day Lord Krishna was put on a cot after his birth in last Jamnastami. On this day baby Lord Krishna becomes 13 month old and he is put on the cot for the 1st time. The week long festival ended today on Bhadra purnima coinciding with Rakshabandhan. Statue of Lord Krishna is put on a cot and moved to and fro singing lullaby.

The main attraction in Guwahati was the Radha Krishna Nepali Mandir Paltan Bazar in the heart of the city where devotees thronged the temple premises. The festival and puja that began on 13th August 2008 witnessed several hundreds devotees in batches mostly in the morning and evening.
 
Ruplal Sharma Gen Secy. Nepali Mandir Prabanhan Samity told Assam Times that "Jhulan Puja in Nepali Mandir always have witness overwhelming response from the people not only on religious ground but also on reunion of the people from the city." We are happy that the temple being in a city centric place even the busiest  commuters find time to worship here. All arrangements for the devotees were made; he added.
