16th Bhasa Divas was observed in different parts of Assam on August 20, the day of incorporation of the Nepali language into the 8th schedule of Constitution of India in the year 1992, organised by All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU). The central programme of Bhasa Divas celebration was held in Chumangata in Baska district of BTAD.
AAGSU leaders recalled the contributions of all who fought for the recognition of the Nepali language. Addressing as the Chief Guest AAGSU President Dil Bahadur Limboo rather speaking on the Nepali language caught the attention of the people speaking on the deportation of Bangladeshi and illegal migrants issue. AAGSU is in favour of recognition and deportation all illegal migrants and foreigners settled in Assam and it supports the mechanism of AASU said Limboo. Assam cannot be turned into dumping ground of illegal foreigners and AAGSU stands with AASU in this social cause, he added.
