Assam Times: Chak de, cheerleaders no more Chak de, cheerleaders no more ================================================================================ Monjib Mochahari on 05 May, 2008 08:36:00 Incredible, really incredible, is our country! No cheerleaders, no six please! Was it so? Ask Mahendro Singh Dhoni. The recent debate over IPL cheerleaders raises two questions. First, do obscenity in the field adds more glamour? Second, have we ever questioned the sexuality in the so called bollywood movies? Probably, we are too busy or we dont care at all. The concept of Cricketainment is good as far it adds more excitement to the audience. Often, we Indians do like to add extra in everything. Sorry, there is a limit to it. India is a country where the question morality or decency is being repeatedly used or misused. Its because weve too much of democracy? Thanks to our courageous politicians for not allowing boogie-boogie business in the field. We all know, sexual violence in our country is on the soar. Be it in the metros or even in the rural areas sexual related cases are being reported everyday. Its seriousness can only be felt by the victims. Its not only cheerleaders that needs scrutiny, our bollywood film industry has done a lot promoting immorality in the society. Such vulgarity in the movies should also be banned totally. So, if politicians can ban cheerleaders then, why cant our politicians legislate laws that will make us more morally sensible. We are social beings. We need morality and decency, not not foreign ingredients to add more glomour in the field.
