Traders down shutters in Guwahati, oppose license fee hike
Normal business activities in Guwahati have come to a grinding halt as the traders on Saturday in protest against the move to the trade license fee by 300% by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. With this day long bandh the traders across the city are demanding roll back the trade license hike. With the support of North East Computer Traders Association (NECTA), the strike is evoking a strong response in the city. The traders in the city have called it a totally unfair move by the GMC authorities and that they will not at all accept the 300% license fee hike.
Notably, currently GMC charge Rs.1,250 for the normal trades and Rs.2,500 for the Ltd and Pvt Ltd companies as a trade license fee. But 300% increase will definitely give extra burden on the traders keeping market scenario in mind.
