Virtual Teacher Enhancement Programme held
The senior students of Social Work, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) in collaboration with Christu Jyothi Academy, Kannauj and St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Chhibramau, Kannauj organized a one-day Virtual Teacher Enhancement Programme on ‘Effective Delivery of Education through use of Technology’ for teachers of high schools and a ‘Career Guidance Workshop’ for high schools and higher secondary schools students today 19th July 2021.
While the Teacher Enhancement Programme was attended by sixty seven teachers, the Workshop on Career Guidance was attended by 98 students. Speaking to the teachers, resource person Dr. Bonnie Amonge Crerar, Assistant Professor (Senior), ADBU emphasised on ‘the need for making the student’s experience of online classes engaging and educative while realizing the challenges and limitations that the COVID19 pandemic is placing in the lives of teachers themselves.’ Another resource person Mr. Sushant Mihir Pathak Programme Manager, Quest Alliance spoke on the ‘the use of technology by teachers for effective delivery of education during the pandemic as well as in future.’
A parallel Career Guidance Workshop for students was facilitated by Ms. Miranda Sonowal PhD Scholar, ADBU and Dr. Durlav Sonowal Assistant Professor, Tezpur Central University. Both Ms. Sonowal and Dr. Sonowal interactively engaged with the students and clarified various questions related to streams of studies, competitive exams and related careers in various sectors and departments – public, private, corporate and entrepreneurship. The programme was well accepted by all.
Speaking after the programme Mr. Akhil Yadav a teacher of Christ Jyothi Academy described the sessions as ‘enriching, inspiring and motivating to work harder and smarter in teaching career.’
While the Teacher Enrichment Programme was moderated by Fr. Vincent Abraham, Principal Christ Jyothi Academy and the Career Guidance Workshop Mr. George Shilshi Lamki a senior student of Social Work ADBU; the organisation of both the programmes was supervised and mentored by Dr. Jacob Islary Assistant Professor (Senior), Social Work ADBU.
