Colourful Bihu: Rongghar premises saw a mini Assam
Assam is celebrating Rongali bihu on Monday with much pomp and gaiety. Today is Bor bihu. Elders are being honoured with bihuwans which include gamucha, hachati and a cheleng seeking blessings from them. The young ones are also blessed for well being for the year which begins on Monday. The sounds drums, pipes and flutes are making the Rongali bihu celebration more colourful.
Rongghar premises: The entire Rang ghar premises in the outskirt of the historic Sivasagar district has turned into a mini Assam on Monday while people of all castes and communities thronged in thousands to showcase their rich cultural heritage. The grand function began with the huchari participated by 100 dancing girls with equal number of youths with drums on their shoulders. A delegation from Thialand also got mesmerized when they came to see the unique function before they were felicitated.
On the other hand, the leaders and workers of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad organized bihu hucharis and sought blessings from several eminent personalities on Monday. These include noted intellectual and former arts dean of Gauhati University Dr Hiren Gohain, former Gauhati University vice chancellor Dr Debo Prasad Barooah, noted litterateur and Jnanpith award winner Dr Indira Goswami. All these people hoped that peace will prevail in the state which is riddled by insurgency.
