Rongpi holds govt responsible for NC hills violence

CPI(ML) leader and former  MP Dr Jayanta Rongpi has held the Assam government
responsible for the burning situation in the North Cachar hills district and
said the Gogoi Government has failed to bring the situation under control.
Addressing a press conference here in the city, Dr Rongpi said the suspension
of train services and shifting of railway employees from the trouble torn
district have proved that the government has been failing to deal with the war
like situation. The move to introduce separate unified command structure
exclusively for the district will not help the people mitigate the problems
they have been facing, he said. He also said that the insurgent activities
could die out only if an autonomous body is formed to control both the North
Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts.
