Flood hits Dhemaji as Jiadhal breaches embankment
The first wave of flood waters are surging in Upper Assam's Dhemaji district affecting hundreds of families early on Wednesday morning. The situation started deteriorating as the river Jiadhal has breached a portion of the embankment measuring around 20 meters. This has forced as many as 300 families to leave their houses. More areas are set to come under the surging waters as the incessant rains are continuing.
According to information, the NH 52 is closing on Wednesday following rising water level in Kumotia river. The water level is rising following the incessent rains from Arunachal Pradesh over topping the national highway. The road is being repaired by the Border Roads Organisation.
