Ripun, 2 others to be produced in Patiala court
The Central Bureau of Investigation is all set to produce former education minister Ripun Bora, scribe Mukul Pathak and businessman Ramsh Maheswai in the Patiala court, New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to information, the CBI will the remand of the three people citing further investigation. They could also be brought to Guwahati for a brief period during CBI custody if allowed by the court.
The education minister who was arrested by the central investigation agency on Tuesday along with two others are being interrogated in connection with the bribary case which came up while Mr Bora was trying to influence the investigation officer DSP AD Gupta to hush up the murder case of tea tribe student leader Danial Topno, his rival who challenged him during the 1996 Assembly polls.
Meamwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who called on UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and home minister Shivraj Patil, has suggested Govrnor Lt General (Rtd) Ajoy Singh to drop Mr Bora from the cabinet which was done immediately.
