Erosion takes serious turn at Bhuragaon, Administration silent

Caused by the mighty river Brahmaputra, erosion takes a serious turn at Bhuragaon revenue circle in Morigaon district during the last few weeks causing extensive damages to crop fields and human habitation. As many as 30 families have shifted themselves to safer places from the effected areas. More than 200 hectres of land bearing sugarcane and jute submerged into the Brahmaputra in last week. It may be mentioned that during the last few years as many as 55 revenue villages were completely submerged into the said river due to erosion and more than sixty thousand people were rendered homeless. It is seen that no permanent protection measures have been taken till date by the district administration to safegourd the affected people as well as the areas.
