Assam Times: Erosion of Dikhow river threatening ONGCL Colony Erosion of Dikhow river threatening ONGCL Colony ================================================================================ Saiyed Khairul Hassan on 24 July, 2008 01:34:00 Due to the negligence of the ONGCL, ERBC, Naizra embankment of the Dikhow River was suddenly broke on last 10th July, 2008 and threatening life and property of the people in the surrounding areas. Local people and the water Resource Department claimed that excluded water of the ONGCL colony, Nazira weakened the embankment & the ONGCL should take its responsibility. On the other hand, erosion of the Dikhow river carries a great threat to the people of Nazira. It may also cause a damage to the ONGCL. Manik Gogoi Gen Secretary of AASU, Sivasagar District visited the embankment with his colleges and demanded urgent repair and protection of the embankment. They also demand for relief of flood victims.
