Teez festival by the Gorkhas community is celebrated with funfair through out the state. The event in Guwahati was held in Nepali Mandir, Paltan Bazar. Hundreds of women were seen singing, dancing & giggling in groups in Gorkha High School premises. In Hindu mythology during this time young Parvati had fasten till Lord Shiva accepted her love and married her.
Nepali Mandir Prabandhan Samitee has organized the celebration and all arrangements have been made. A dance competion will be held on 6th August 2008 at Pahad Singh Gurung auditorioum prize money amounting to Rs.10,000 and Rs.7,500 with citation and trophy; the organizers informed.
