Attack on Padma Hazarika not militant bid: Himanta

No militant outfit was behind the recent bid on life of AGP MLA Padma Hazarika. But the Assam government has ordered a speedy investigation to apprehend the culprits involved in it.
Disclosing this before a private TV news channel, Assam government spokesperson Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said the intelligence agencies have confirmed that the bid on life of Padma Hazarika was not a handiwork of any militant outfit. Dr Sarma further denied it a politically motivated attempt on Padma Hazarika. He maintained that Mr Hazarika’s statement is required in this regard.
“Politics of murder is there in AGP only and we donot understand why it is these misdeeds are,” he said.
The minister did not rule out the possibility of ANLA’s hand in the Beltola violence at the AASA sponsored rally on twenty fourth of November. He observed that the administrative probe has unearthed some startling revelations. Regarding the AKRSU bandh, the minister said the government is ready to contain any situation arising thereof. Further he maintained that these bandhs and strikes will be meaning less after the meeting of six communities with P R Kyndiah in New Delhi on eighteenth of December.
