Good news for Assam. Courtesy Jahnu Baruah. Once again the film maker on Wednesday brought no less pride and glory in the time of Rongali Bihu.
Baruah’s Ajeyo has clinched the best Assamese film award (Rajat Kamal) award which was declared on Wednesday evening in New Delhi.
Ajeyo is an adaptation from Arun Sarma’s award-winning novel and Jahnu Barua directed the film.
Barua seems to have given very strong social messages in his Assamese film ‘Ajeyo’where the end comes with a smiling mood.
The film was screened at the last Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. It is based on Arun Sarma’s Akademi Award winning Assamese novel ‘Axirbador Rong’.
The prestigious Rajat Kamal award has Rs 1,00,000 each to the Producer and Director. The story deals with a boy who stands up against in pre-independent India and hopes for rule of law in independent India. But his hopes are all but shattered by happenings later on.
On the other hand, the best Assamese music director award goes to Anurag Saikia for Yugadrastra.
