New born on the street!

In a bizarre incident that questions the existance of humanity, a woman gave birth to a baby on the street on Sunday.

The incident that sends shockwaves across the state took place in Nazira where and mentall disable women gave birth to a baby on the Sunday in the broadday light.

Having seen this pathetic plight, a section of eyewitness rushed the mother and the newborn to the Ligiripukhuri Hospital they are undergoing treatment. A few local NGOs are in touch with the authority to take over the care of the baby whose father is not known.

Veteran Congress leader in Nazira Tonkeshwar Saikia breath his last at his own residence of Nazira Simaluguri on Thursday. He was 81 and survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. Saikia, the elder brother of former Assam chief minister Hiteswar Saikia died of prolonged illness. Many political leaders, organizations and individuals have deeply condoled his death. 71th Independence Day was observed with traditional gaity and flavour in different places of Nazira Sub division.  The  main event was held at Nazira playground, where civil administration  organised the Independence Day with a day long programme. SDO(C) Dr. Sadnek Singh hoisted the National Flag after swahid tarpan at Nazira Gandhi Maidan. Hundreds of people hit the streets in Nazira alleging anti people policies of the BJP led government at the state and Centre. Led by Congress MLA Debobrata Saikia, the protestors thronged in front of the SDO (Civil) office in the town and shouted slogans against the central and state government.
