The killer Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome continue to wreak havoc in the state.
Japanese Encephalitis toll mounts to 80 There seems to be no respite from Japanese Encephalitis. The killer disease has so far claimed 88.
The worst affected district is Sivsagar where the death toll has gone up to 10. Sivasagar is followed by Barpeta where nine people lost their lives till Monday.
Health department sources told Assam Times that 473 persons have tested positive in 24 districts on Monday.
Sivasagar alone has registered 27 positive cases along with and 58 positive acute encephalitis sysndrome cases. In Barpeta district, 64 positive Japanese Encephalitis cases have been registered.
The picture refuses to improve with a total of 207 AES deaths being reported, while 1,257 AES positive cases have been detected so far.
Kamrup (rural), Nalbari, Sonitpur and Darrang districts also remained affected by JE, recording six, seven, six and seven deaths respectively.
Kamrup (metropolitan) district has registered a total of 33 JE positive cases and 100 AES positive cases. No deaths either from JE or AES being reported from Kamrup (metropolitan).
