Over 10,000 people have been rendered homeless when flood waters submerged at least 25 villages in Sonitpur district.
Flood waters refused to recede on Wednesday to bring misery to more people in the district.
The Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flowing above the danger level following the incessant rains that lashed the catchment areas of Arunachal Pradesh during the last couple of days.
The water level of Rivers Satrang and Solengi were rising in Gohpur where several houses have been damaged.
The Sonitpur district administration officials told Assam Times that they have has already set up a control room at Gohpur. Apart from it, a rescue team is in place for the marooned people.
Surface transport services have come to a grinding halt after flood waters damaged the roads in the affected places.
