Beware Kokrajhar arms smugglers
Kokrajhar police make it plain and simple that they would strictly deal with the arms smugglers who have been mongering trouble in BTAD areas for the last couple of years.
Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar after the encounter at Kamalachara Patalpuri area in the afternoon, superintendent of police Sunil Kumar said that the offensive against these elements would continue in the entire district.
Kumar confirmed that the deceased in the encounter Usuf Ali who hailed from Duramari was an arms smuggler. He further hoped that they would be able to extract more information on arms smuggler in the interrogation of Sohrab Ali who has undergoing treatment at the Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital after he sustained bullet injury in the encounter.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday. Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return.
