Chief minister Tarun Gogoi pulls up his sleeves to reshuffle his cabinet. Apart from inducting four new faces, the chief minister will show the door to at least three ministers.
Further, he is in the process of making a drastic change in the portfolios of a number of his cabinet colleagues.
Reliable sources in Koinadhara told Assam Times that axe might fall on social welfare minister Akon Bora, veterinary minister Khorsing Ingty and revenue minister Prithvi Majhi.
The new faces include Sarat Borkotoky, Anjan Dutta, Debobrata Saikia, Bhupen Bora and Bidya Singh Englang, Arun Phukan. Of course, Gogoi will induct one of the trio hailing from Sivasagar district. The chance of Borkotoky seems bright if Dutta gets a prominent position in the party.
Gogoi is leaving for New Delhi on Friday to get his list of ministers approved by the party high command. He is expected to meet party president Sonia Gandhi and during his three days trip to the capital.
Four vital posts of ministers have been lying vacant for the last couple of months. Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma resigned in July refusing to work under Tarun Gogoi. Chandan Brahma put in his papers after BPF snapped alliance with the ruling Congress. The Chief minister dropped cooperation and border development minister Siddique Ahmed and irrigation minister Dr Ardhendu Dey.
