The Kokrajhar Press Club formed its new executive committee with Ajit Kumar Basumatary as president for next two-year termed.
The new body the club was formed on Saturday in a general meeting of the club’s annual convention held with two-day colourful programme scheduled at Kokrajhar Press Club.
Ashok Kumar Barman was selected as secretary of the club.Harishangkar Thakur and Hantigiri Narzary were selected as vice-president. Dudnath Singh and Kanak Chandra Boro were selected assistant secretaries,Suraj Basumatary as cashier,Monalisa Sarma sa literary secretary,Sukur Akand and Geolangsar Narzary were selected as office secretary and assistant office secretary respectively.
Kokrajhar district committee of Journalist Union of Assam was also formed with Monalisa Sarma as president and Preetam Brahma Choudhury as secretary in the convention.
Menwhile,the Kokrajhar Press Club (KPC) celebrated its 20th foundation day with a daylong colourful programme programme on Sunday at Kokrajhar Press club building.
As per the scheduled programme, president of Kokrajhar Press Club Ajit Basumatary hoisted the organizational flag followed by floral tribute to the journalists who are no more in this world.
Later an open meeting was held where Senior journalist Manjit Mahanta of Guwahati attended as distinguished guest and spoke on the ocassion. Pratibha Brahma, Editor of The opinion deliver speech on journalist related issues A magazine “The Bodoland Herald”, which comprises of five languages-Bodo, English, Assamese, Hindi and Bengali was released by BTC executive member of Education Derhasat Basumatary.
Ceremonial distribution of study materials donated by the Press club to the orphan students of Nichima Orphanage Home situated at Kwila-Mwila of Chirang district was also held.
Kokrajhar Press club donated study materials like note books, pens, pencils, geometry boxes, rulers, warm clothes to the orphanage children.
