BJP legislators in the Assam Assembly went all out against Dr Nazrul Islam after the civil supplies minister charged Delhi with creating troubles for Dispur by stopping ration in the tea gardens apart from disallowing the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
Dr Islam said, " the Centre has decided to stop the subsidised rice and atta for the tea gardens. It will create immense difficulties for the workers."
According to him, “five Congress-ruled states had rolled out the NFSA before the Lok Sabha polls without digitisation as it is not a mandatory clause under the Act and they are still continuing.”
The BJP members stood on the floor in protest against the minister. But in his intervention the Speaker said, “Do not forget the good response you (BJP) had received from tea gardens before the (Lok Sabha) elections."
