Inmates gheraoed officials

Relief camp inmates at Patgaon High School in Kokrajhar gheraoed VP Payarilal, additional chief secretary of govt of Assam and Thaneswar Malakar, Kokrajhar DC on Friday demanding security measures and suffiecient relief materials.

The officials visited the camp to stock of the relief works at the school involving sector officer and relief incharge, but inmates saw uproar over government officials and gheraoed the officials for half an hour. The inmates demanded sufficient relief materials and security at the camp and vaillges to prevent from anti-social activities in near future and gheraoed the officials while concern officials have been trying to shift the inmates from another camp.

An all party delegation team visited relief camps in Kokrajhar to stock of the inmates and shared grief of affected peoples.

The delegation team led by Pabindra Deka,ex minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader which included Ripunjoy Bora(NCP),Suprakash Talukdar and Manaranajn Talukdar (CPI-M),Hafish Rashid Ahmed (SP),Bhageswar Datta (CPI),PK Das and Manteswar Rahan (CPI-ML) and Suresh Saikia (United Peoples Front).

The all party team visited at Raikungbari (Bodo camp) and Kachugaon (Adivasi camp) under Gossaigaon sub- division and took stock of the conditions of inmates.The team also visited Karigaon and Joypur relief camps in Kokrajhar.

The delegation team alleged that government has not initiated sufficient step to provide materials to the inmates as inmates at various camps have been suffering lots of problems.The team demanded sufficient relief materials and urged the government to step more facilities to the inmates.

Pabindra Deka,ex minister and AGP said that relief inmates who are taking sheltering at camps are facing crisis of foods and some other problems as government and district have not step sufficient supports to the camps.He has slammed the government for inefficient supports to the camps in respect of security and some other related relief materials,he added.

Among others the team was also included AGP MLAs Mukandaram Choudhury,Bhupen Roy,Jakir Hussion,district secretray of AGP.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
