A huge area in Golaghat district bordering Nagaland mires in tension when a section of people from the neighbouring state tried abortive attempt to build their houses beyond their territory.
Golaghat district administration officials told Assam Times that the situation is now under control. DC and SP are closely monitoring the situation.
Local residents under the B sector along the interstate border told Assam Times that feeling of insecurity still grips them. A group of Naga people on Tuesday came to Rajapukhuri, Romanbasti areas asking the villagers to vacate the place. They further threatened the villagers of dire consequences if they are not allowed to build their houses.
When the report reached SSB, they asked a magistrate and Uriamghat police station to look into it.
Then the allegations were passed to the Golaghat district authorities before SP PP Singh arrived in the area and asked the asked the villagers not to leave the area.
