Dance Festival at Mahabhairav Temple
Kalpa, a Society for Promotion of Literature, Art, Culture and Social Harmony, presents the 7th edition of Pragjyoti International Dance Festival (PIDF); an annual classical dance extravaganza to exhibit the wide range of India’s classical dance forms together on one platform to sing in unison and to celebrate the rich heritage of Assam, the six-day classical dance extravaganza will be held at Shraddhanjali Kanan in Guwahati and Mahabhairav Temple in Tezpur from 7th to 11th March, 2015.
The event is an annual feature by Kalpa society held in association with INTACH (India's National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India; District Administration, Sonitpur and Assam Tourism. The programme is co-sponsored by India Tourism, LIC, State Bank of India and Oil India Limited.
Sattriya danseuse Anwesa Mahanta, Festival Director of PIDF says, “Dance has always inspired and connected me to the surrounding both physically and spiritually. It has enabled me to understand the life force and the vital energy behind each existence. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at his Office in New Delhi and discussed with him to spruce up internal security mechanism including raising a new battalion for Assam.Gogoi also discussed with him the status of ceasefire agreement that the government has with different militant groups along with devising rehabilitation package for the surrendered militants. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the state government would bear all educational expenses for the students belonging to BPL families under a new scheme to be launched soon.
