The State TB Cell, Assam in association with Guwahati Press Club has invited proposals for two media fellowships on Tuberculosis (TB) from mid-career journalists of the State for a period of two months (April and May 2015).
Each selected journalist will be given Rs 20, 000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) as the stipend for the entire period. The fellows should study and publish at least 4 articles in any popular daily or periodicals of Assam with the objective of spreading awareness on Tuberculosis incorporating various government sponsored facilitates including free diagnostic and treatments under Revised National TB Control Programme.
Nearly 40,000 new TB cases have been put on treatment during the year 2014. The State has been able to achieve national target of 70% case detection and 85% success rate during the period. It also achieved in the implementation of the programmatic management of drug resistant TB service throughout the State.
The selected fellows will have to attend a two-day training programme on health reporting prior to the main course of study. The last date of submission of proposals to the office of Guwahati Press Club, Ambari, Guwahati-781001 is fixed on 26 March 2015. The application should contain a brief bio-data with a passport size photograph and a short note (around 500 words) expressing his/her interest for the fellowship programme.
