Normal life came to a grinding halt in central districts following a 12 hour bandh call by a platform of 12 organizations on Tuesday.
Vehicles, mostly, refused to ply on the road from 6 in the morning while shops and markets remained closed under the impact of the bandh demanding simultanesous polls for Tiwa autonomous body in the central districts.
In some places a section of bandh supporters tried to stop the movement of vehicles by burning tyres on the road. Some others damaged a few vehicles by pleting stones for defying the bandh.
