Sea of humanity atop Nilachal

Amid tight security pilgrims from the country and abroad are thronging atop the Nilachal Hill to get a glimpse of the ongoing ambubachi fair.

 

Organizers told Assam Times that over 1000 foreign pilgrims have already arrived in the hill top to see the four day long event while 80,000 pilgrims from other parts of the country are visiting the ancient temple pilgrims.  

 

The Kamrup (metro) district administration and tourism department have been holding four camps in the city to accommodate the pilgrims this time.

 

The camps at the Sonaram High School playground, Kamakhya railway station, Pandu ghat and Naharbari (near Kamakhya Temple) are teeming with the pilgrims for the two days. The fair would end on Saturday.

 

A team of senior administration officials has been monitoring the situation apart from deploying 1000 security personnels and installing 100 CCTVs.
