Dispur is writing to New Delhi seeking inclusion of those in the N RC whose names appeared in the electoral rolls of the country by virtue of them ‘being Indians’, in the National Register of Citizens (NRC), which is being updated.
The decision was finalized at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday. The meeting discussed the names of the genuine citizens whose names figure in the electoral rolls.
Gogoi also directed initiation of appropriate steps for deputing State government officials to every household for filling up the NRC forms.
