Much to utter fear and panic a herd of wild elephants was moving without any hindrance in Tezpur town on Friday evening.
The herd comprising 11 wild elephants including 3 calves who left the flooded Kaziranga arrived in the town in the wee hours triggering panic among the local residence of Kumargaon area.
Suddenly, the elephants stormed into a house premises and silently halted for nearly an hour and left without causing any damage of life and property.
After the brief halt, they started moving towards an open field in the outskirt of the town much to the relief of the local residents who got panicky. Again in the evening the local residents refused to come out of their houses fearing the presence of wild elephants.
