Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), in association with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, organized the North East Food Processing and Technology Summit at NEDFi Convention Centre in Guwahati on Saturday.
The objectives behind the event was to build capacities of local entrepreneurs and industry in the region by bringing in modern techniques in order to attain commercial competencies and an optimal exploitation of the vast array of exotic horticultural crops grown in the region.
Senior officials of the north eastern states and national players in the food processing industry also graced the occasion. Large number of entrepreneurs from the from Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh also attended the Summit which had covered three important sessions.
In a resolute display of solidarity and resilience, over 5,000 women hailing from the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar-Mizo communities congregated at Peace Ground, Tuibuong, Lamka, Churachandpur in Manipur, kickstarting the annual 16 Days Activism on Violence Against Women. Orchestrated by the Women of Lamka, the event was a fervent call for justice and a poignant outcry against the distressing instances of gender-based violence (GBV) that have plagued the state.
