The Golaghat police nabbed two persons from Furkating Rail station after recovering ganja from their possession on Wednesday night.
Identified as Vijay Chetri and Ganesh Pandey, the duo were carrying ganja worth Rs 3 lakh from Manipur to Arunachal Pradesh.
They confessed to have bought ganja from a Kuki villages in Manipur to be supplied to other parts of region.
Local residents in Thuramukh area in Golaghat heaved a sigh of relief after they managed to ensure the safe rescue of an elephant calf from a deep drain on Thursday. Talking to Assam Times local residents said that the calf was trapped in the drain in Thuramukh tea garden when it as accompanying a herd of wild elephant who came down to the area in search of food in the morning.Initially, the full grown elephants tried to rescue the calf.
