3 ULFA killed; lady cadre apprehended in Sivasagar

Three hardcore ULFA cadres were killed and a lady cadre has been apprehended in two separate encounters in the state on late Monday last night. According to information, ULFA leader sergeant Aditya Naidu was killed at a fierce encounter that took place at Timon tea Estate under Kakotibari police station in Sivasagar district early in the morning on Tuesday.

Acting on some specific inputs, Army's 66th Field Regiment Jawans launched an operation in the area at around 5 in the morning which led to this encounter and ULFA's 20th Battalion B Company sergeant Aditya died on the spot. A lady cadre has also been apprehended in the encounter. Aditya, an explosion expert is known to be the close associate of Ram Singh. A pistol two hand grenades have recovered from his possession.

Before that, two hardcore ULFA cadres were killed in yet another encounter in lower Assam's Bagsa distict. Both the ULFA cadres were killed during a joint operation launched by police and army in the area. According to information, the encounter took place at Palashguri Nath Kuchi Chowk when army and police conducted a raid at the residence of surrendered ULFA cadre Diganta Nath. The two ULFA cadres Captain Dharya Deka and Sergeant Major Rana Rabha were died on the spot. Deka, the close aide of Hira Sarania is a resident of Baganpara while Rabha hails from Musholpur. Later Army recovered 2 kgs of RDX, two pistols and two hand grenades from the house.

The lady cadre has been identified as Karabi Gogoi. But Karabi denies her association with the banned insurgent outfit.
