Two rebels arrested

Security forces from the army and police apprehended two persons including a NDFB-S rebel  and a linkman from.Jaleswar under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar today. 

The arrested persons were identified as Agnesh Mushahary alias Kenkra, and Nikhil Daimary alias Ajay. Two factory made pistols with four live rounds ammunitions were recovered from them. Army sources said the arrested rebels were involved in extortion of money and recruiting of new cadres.

CM reviews NRC update

Hardly a forthnight after his party’s deplorable show in the Lok Sabha polls, chief minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the officials to expedite the process to udate NRC.

Gogoi passed his strict instructions to the officials when he reviewed the progress of the project at his Koinadhara residence on Friday.   

In a separate order, the chief minister has appointed Justice (Retd) PK Mushahary as the chairman of the police accountability commission .

 Gogoi further appointed Shivabrata Kakoti and Parul Devi as the members of the commission.  

Forest official hurt in clash during eviction drive

GUWAHATI: A forest official engaged in the massive eviction drive in the Amchang wildlife sanctuary sustained serious injury when an evicted person attacked him with a sharp weapon on Tuesday.

The clash took place in the morning when the huge joint team of forest department and district administration resumed the drive to evict the illegal settlers.

As they started demolishing a house the owner had an altercation with the forest official who was busy with his assigned task defying the resistance. Suddenly, the owner of the house attacked the official with a sharp weapon.

He was rushed to the hospital and the owner was arrested.

CM to make aerial survey in Dibrugarh

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is scheduled to undertake another aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts on Saturday.
Gogoi is expected to meet district administration officials from these districts on Saturday. Towards the evening he would be back to Guwahati. On his arrival, the chief minister is slated to hold a high level meeting of the officers to take stock of the relief operations.
