Hundreds of disability persons from four districts of BTAD took part in the 6-hours sit-in demonstration demanding early implementation the rights as per PWD Act, 1995, provide equal protection of rights for disability person in all line departments.
The agitators participated the dharna with banner, placards demanding equal rights, implementation of the PWD Act where several right and ways were made for the disability persons, was organized by All BTAD Disabled Adhikar Suraksha Mansa in front of DC office in Kokrajhar on Monday.
Nandalal Choudhury, adviser of the mansa strongly slammed the government of Assam and BTAD administration for not taking any sincerity steps towards implementation of the PWD Act. There are various scope and facilities have been made in the PWD Act for disability, but state government never emphasize to give job opportunity as well welfare for the disability persons, he said.
'The disability persons are deprived from their rights that are put in the governmental departments schemes due to insincerity. To put pressure to the government, today disability persons have to sit in the agitation to seek our right and issues', Choudhury added.
