ABSU hails Gogoi's announcement

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) welcomed the chief minister Tarun Gogoi announcement of fulfilling various long standing demands of the Bodos which include inclusion of villages of Sonitpur district under Panchayati Raj, separate Directorate for Bodo medium and declaration of Bodo language as associate official language of Assam among others during the interim Budget session of Assam Assembly.

Speaking the reporters at a news conference at Kajalgaon in Chirang, Pramod Boro,president of ABSU welcome the announcement saying ‘we welcome the chief minister announcement of fulfilment of the long standing genuine demands of the Bodos. Boro said the chief minister during his budget speech today announced for inclusion of villages of Sonitpur district under Panchayati Ra,.separate Directorate for Bodo medium with special budget provision and officers upto blocks level, solution of Bodo medium educational problem from KG to PG (school provincialisation, teachers appointment, adequate district institutes of  education and training centres for Bodo medium at Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Sonitpur Dhemaji, Diphu and Dudnoi, text book, etc, declaration of Bodo language as associate official language of Assam, Upendranath Brahma Memorial Bodo Cultural Research & Development Centre at Guwahati and declaration of birthday of Upendra Nath Brahma 31st march as ‘Student’s day’ in the academic calendar of Assam as restricted holiday, and formation of high level committee including minister of tribal affairs, bureaucrats and tribal bodies to protect the land under belts and blocks areas.
