Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce (FICCI) jointly organized an Interactive session with a 35 members delegation from Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies (RIGSS), Bhutan on 23rd March, 2016 at IIE Auditorium. The meet was a platform for sharing of possible scope and opportunities for mutual benefits for both the countries in trade and commerce, particularly with emphasis on NER, the immediate neighbor of Bhutan.
A welcome remark was given by Manoj K Das, Director, IIE. He mentioned that Bhutan has a higher Per Capita Income and more happiness than India. NER and Bhutan coexisted since time immemorial. This renewed focus on understanding and building relationship with NER is a timely and welcome step. This was followed by presentations on NER-Bhutan economic scoping by Biswajit Chakrabarty, Head, FICCI North East. Dr. Sriparna B Baruah, Faculty of IIE presented on the activities of IIE and possible benefits that Bhutan can derive from the strength of the institute.
Head of the delegation, RIGSS, Bhutan Chewang Rinzin and Tashi Wangyal, RIGSS addressed the august gathering which represented media, academia, policy makers. Industrialists, entrepreneurs, officials, tour operators, photojournos, social entrepreneurs and social activists. The Bhutanese was an assortment of administrators, policy members, department heads, educationists, businessmen etc.
