Pathsala shines in HSSLC 2016

Three students from Pathsala brought glory to the town bagging three ranks among the top 10 in the higher secondary examination 2016 results declared on Thursday.

Ilakshi Najir of Krishna Kanta Junior College ranked 6th (Arts) with 474 out of 500 (94.8℅) marks. Ilakshi is the daughter of Dilip kumar Nazir and Mina Nazir from Howly. Ilakshi used to study about seven to eight hours daily.

10th  position secured by Nirupama Roy of Raipur  village, daughter of Jogeswar Roy and Dipali Roy with 468 (Arts) marks from Bajali Higher Secondary College.

Suranjan Dev Sarma of Bajali college secured 474 out of 500 (10th position,  Science). Son of Late Pobin Sarma and Hira devi Sarma, Suranjan used to study about 9 to 10 hours in a day.

Achyut Lahkar, the father of Assamese mobile theatre died on SUnday morning at around 7.30 am. Lakhar born in the year of 1931, founded the Nataraj Theatre, the first mobile theatre in Assam way back in 1963. Known as ‘Mancha Pravakor' he was a pioneering dramatist, actor, director and producer who staged numerous memorable plays in mobile theatre. He has written various plays such as Arena,  Ajoya Vietnam, Usha, Black Money, Doctor Babu, Ami Henu Manuh Nohoi etc. He was an editor of a magazine caled Dipawali. Lahkar was awarded with Kamal Kumari National award, Atul Chandra Hazarika Bota.
Adjacent roads of Pathsala (Lasit Nagar) was blocked by a group of women demanding immediate reapair of the roads on Thursday morning. The group of local women came out from their homes to protests against deplorable roads near Anandaram Baruah Academy Schools & Colleges in the heart of Pathsala town. According to them, The goverment failed to take development to the people.  The conditions of roads is very poor and people can't walk in the road in rainy season. Later, Executive Magistrate Saifudaullah Khan  with the sub-divisional police visited on the spot and cleared the blockade.

Two youth died on the spot in a fatal accident at Baghmara, Monday around 2.30 pm. The incident happened at Bajali when the duo's speeding motor cycle collided with a truck head on after hitting a cow near the Baghmara police station. The dead have been identified as Kumar Boro and Bhakta Boro both from Gargoan. The bodies meantime were shifted to the Barpeta Medical College for postmortem.

Two persons travelling in a  private car (AS15 9G 8863) died on the spot when their car hit a truck (AS19C 4827) at Bachkuchi, near Patacharkuchi Police station. Finally, patients started running out of the people in Pathsala on Saturday who have been alleging the prevalence of country liquor business beside the railway station. A group of local women came out of their homes in the evening and vandalized a few country liquor shops without the presence of police. Initially, a few of the illegal traders tried to resist.
