Security forces apprehended two cadres of militant outfit and a linkman from different three places of lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Chirang district on Wednesday.

A joint team of police and army conducted a joint operation against militant outfits,where a cadre of National Santhali Liberation Army(NSLA) was apprehended from Thakurpur village under Gossaigaon PS and a NDFB-S linkman, identified as Rajen Narzary was arrested from Shantipur under Kachugaon PS of Kokrajhar district.The NSLA cadre was identified as Berenthius Hembrom(29) of Thakurpur. He was arrested on the basis of CDR analysis and found to be involved with the extortion of one Abraham Soren,Grahampur VCDC Chairman under FIR with Gossaigaon PS Case No.256/16/U/S 387/506 IPC.

In separate operation at Sonapur Lalai, a NDFB-S cadre was arrested under Amguri PS in Chirang. The arrested cadre was identified as Sabian Mushahary alias Adam (27). A hand grenade was recovered from arrested cadre, who fled away to Banglore last year due to the ongoing intensive CI operations in the area. He was a close associate of slain hardcore cadres of the militant outfit,included Ringsar Basumutary, Gundai, Jwnthwi and others. Interrogation is on.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar.
