Normal life in many parts of Assam remains completely paralyzed on Tuesday when an Ahom organization enforced a 12 hour bandh opposing the move to auction 12 oil fields. The bandh mainly disrupted normal life in the upper Assam districts where schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices refused to open.
Roads in these parts wore a desert look as all vehicles stopped plying from 6 in the morning. Bandh supporters in some places tried to enforced the call by burning tyre on the roads.
The bandh which is set to end towards the evening, however, had hardly an impact in the lower Assam district apart from the Barak valley districts. The Ahom organization gave the bandh call to oppose the move to auction 12 lucrative oil fields. They said that they would never allow it to happen.
