AJYCP stages strike, opposes auction move

Hundreds of AJYCP activists in Sivasagar district launched day long strike in protest against the move to auction 12 oil fields. The agitating activists thronged the oil fields where they warned the Narendra Modi government at the Centre not to proceed with the deal. On Tuesday, they would block the National Highway No 37 to oppose the move. On Wednesday, AJYCP will stage rail blockade asking the Centre to roll back the decision by July 8.

Notably, the Centre is preparing to auction dozens of oil fields to the private parties which include 12 from Assam.

Repolling in BTC

Repolling in two polling station, one each in Kokrajhar and Udalguri district started from 8 am amidth tight security today. In Kokrajhar, the repolling at 26 No. Sahajuri LP school under Saraibil constituency of Gossaigaon subdivision saw a long queue since morning in peaceful manner. The poll was stopped due to alleged of rigging on Wednesday. 

In Udalguri, the repolling at Sapkaiti polling station being held today in tight security as voters come out to caste vote from morning. 

The district administration has arranged vigil securities during the repolling to thwart unwanted situations in the districts. 

The BTC election was held on Wednesday with passed of peaceful and normalcy. 

Money on fishnet in Guwahati water body

Believe it or not. Fishermen at a water body in Guwahati catched lakhs of rupees on Monday. The strange incident took place at Chasal in the afternoon when a fisherman came to see a bundle of notes of Rs 1000 demonition on his net. Others also started looking for money under the water and accordingly got hundreds of rupees. As the news spread like wildfire the local residents in large number were landing in the water body and most of them found out money.

Flood relief scam: AHRC orders probe

Caught in a string of anomalies and irregularities, the Assam Human Rights Commission has directed Dispur to form a high-level committee to investigate the allegations during the past five years. According to information, the decision was taken after the commission went through the media reports during recent weeks on 'massive embezzlement' of money in flood control and relief operations. It has directed the chief secretary NK Das to form a three-member panel to probe the allegations.
