Cycle for peace

With the mission to spread the message of love, peace, amity, brotherhood, communal harmony a “Shanti Sadbhabna Cycle Yatra” from Kokrajhar Assam to Kashmir organized by the Sarva Seva Sangh (All India Sarvodaya Mandal) in association with many Gandhian and like-minded organizations’ yatra kick off today.

Kampa Borgoyry Deputy Chief BTC, forest and tourism department incharge flagged off the Gandhian Cycle rally for peace.

Chandan pal joint convenor of the Shanti Sadbhabna Cycle Yatra said that nearly 60 days long cycle rally has started from Kokrajhar to Kashmir on Saturday 3rd September to till October 2016.

“We aim to spread the message of peace The purpose of the cycle yatra is to appeal to the common people, political leaders not to discriminate any one irrespective of caste, creed, religion sects etc and work for a society where there will be equality, amity, brotherhood, friendship, communal harmony and to aware the people in the name of development modernity how destruction of jal, jangal, jamin, Khanij is going on which will ultimately affect our development and ecology” he mentioned.

He said that 20 young boys and girls from different communities (Bodo, Muslim, Rava, Rajbongshi, Miching, Bengali and Assamese) have turned up on peace bi-cycles rally.

Pal said that the yatra will be cover 8 states i.e., Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, UP, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu-Kashmir

He said that the cycle rally team will be meeting President and Vice president of India and also appeal to people to make a society free from intoxication, drugs etc.

Radha Batta secretary of the organizer said that after eruption of violence in Bodo area of Assam in 2012, Gandhian’s from all over the country reached there for establishing peace and this works is going on for about four years now. We have taken several steps and working with various communities to bring back peace and understanding. In all these efforts were glad to receive immense support and cooperation from local public, different communities, organizations, local government, educational institutional. The sangh seeks communal harmony and peace among the different communities living in the region.

She also calls upon the all militants group in northeast to come forward for peace dialogue with Govt. of India to make permanent solution and through violence never bring solution.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. She has authored many books in Bodo language and contributed a lot to the uplift and development of Bodo literature. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. The bail was granted by Kokrajhar's chief judicial magistrate.
