Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday personally appeared before a lower court in Guwahati in response to a summon issued to him in connection with a defamation case.
Accompanied by top AICC leaders, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and APCC president Ripun Bora, Gandhi arrived at the Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate Court premises where he appeared to defend the defamation case filed against him by a RSS activist.
A RSS worker field the defamation case against against Gandhi last year where the CJM summoned Gandhi to appear before the court on Thursday.
The RSS volunteer alleged that Gandhi’s statement on RSS in New Delhi tarnished the organization’s image which needed to be judged by the court.
