Timber smugglers arrested

Sasastra Seema Bal(SSB) jawans from 16th Battalion of Ranighuli apprehended eight timber smugglers from different places from Dattapur and Bamungaon area in Chirang district on Wednesday.

Acting on specific information received about working of timber msugglers, a joint patrolling conducted by the team of battalion(Bn) headquarter company Gurubasha and BOP Dadgiri under the command of AKC Singh, Commandant 16th Bn SSB Ranighuli and Mobi Lourembam, Assistant Comandant in the general area of Dattapur and Bamungaon area and seized huge reserve of timber planks from seven different locations under the forest area with trolley and Scotty and apprehended eight timber smugglers.

The apprehended were identified as Madhu Sutradhar, Akhol Islary, Gonak Sutradhar, Gopal sutradhar, Jadab Sutradhar, Hosia Islary, Molas Sutradhar & Rajil Sutradhar.

Earlier in the month of February this year 16th Bn SSB Ranighuli, based on the intelligence input launched the operation against timber smugglers and apprehended four persons along with seizure of forest timber worth Rs 41,35,367/- from the same area i.e Bamungaon area under PS Sidli.

Singh, comandant urge for the support of locals people for saving the green forest and requested them not to indulge in felling of trees. He also seek sincere cooperation from others forces and forest department in order to root out timber smuggling form the area.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. The bail was granted by Kokrajhar's chief judicial magistrate.
