Security forces are fanning in a huge area Charaideo in search of ULFA-I rebels who were believed to have been hiding to exchange the old currency notes.
Detaining the youths and old alike at an open space, army, police and para military forces have been conducting house to house operations in the remote villagers in search of the ULFA rebels who is leant to have been preparing for a massive strike.
“The operation has cause immense inconvenience. We can’t concentrate on the crop cutting as we are detained from drown to dusk,” said an old villager in Charaideo who is being detained at an open field along with hundreds of villagers.
“We have nothing to say against the operation against any rebel. But we are annoyed with the way we are detained,” said another villager.
“This is our harvesting season. But we are not allowed to move anywhere. Whom we can blame? Who will listen to us,” A senior citizen rued before Assam Times.
But the paralyzing operation has yet to nab even a single ULFA rebel from the area forcing the security forces to expand the operation area beyond the fixed villages.
