Solve Bodoland issue, Promod urges
Promod Boro, president of the influential All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has urged government of India to solve the long standing demand of Bodoland separate issue through political dialogue to meet good governance and integration in the region.
The 48th annual conference of Kokrajhar district unit of ABSU and Ramfalbil anchalik committee was concluded at Athiabari Tinali ground with three-days colourful programme scheduled in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.
Boro while speaking the reporters in the sidelines of the conference said that the students union has been carrying out its mass movement seeking separate Bodoland homeland under Article 2 & 3 of Indian constitution, but government has yet to take solution steps to the issues.
‘We have been demanding homeland within Indian constitution and responsibility of solutions over the issues was up to the governments’, Boro said.
ABSU and its allied organizations have been organizing several agitation programmes to put pressure governments for creation of Bodoland separate state and ready to carry out more mass agitation in days to coming. He has urged government to take bold step while bringing solution of long standing demand of Bodoland state through political dialogue; otherwise the students union and its allied organizations would be compelled to take vigorous mass movement in coming days.
The annual conference of Kokrajhar district unit and Ramfalbil anchalik,ABSU was concluded with an open session at Athiabari Tinali ground in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.
Promod Boro, president of ABSU graced as chief guest, Dr Subung Basumatary,principal of Janata College,Serfanguri,Dr Adaram Basumatary,professor, Lawrence Islary,general secretary of ABSU attended as guests in the open meeting with Premjit Narzary,president of Kokrajhar district unit ABSU in the chair.
A new committee of the district unit ABSU was formed with Janak Ujir as president and Prahalad Brahma as secretary in the conference.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
