Former chief minister Tarun Gogoi has raised serious doubts over the government’s sincerity on the process to update the national register of citizens.
Participating in the debate on the governor's address on Thursday, the senior Congress leader said the process in processing at a snails pace. He observed that instead of detecting and deporting the immigrants, the Centre is trying to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955.
He also questioned the delay in the complete sealing of the Indo-Bangla border even two years after NDA formed the government at the Centre.
