Utter shock and anger grip Demow in Sivasagar area where two minor boys were cut into pieces two weeks after they went missing forcing the people in large number in the area to hit the streets demanding examplary punishments for the perpetrators.
Hundreds of people in the area thronged Nemuguri near Bokota where police arrested a person in this connection after the decapitated bodies were recovered when brought to dump in a river on Thursday evening.
Local residents blamed it all on the police who failed to trace out the kids during the last two weeks. “We have doubt over the role of police why they failed to find out the minor boys even after they received the complaints,” said a local protestor.
Another protestor said,”we are here to demand justice for the kids who were beheaded by the perpetrators. Police should take up the case seriously. All perpetrators must be caught for examplary punishments.”
“We are not at all satisfied with the way the police are handling this grave crime. Police lack prompt action who keep guarding the interest of the rich. Since the victims hail from the poor family, policemen swung into action lately,” said a local retired teacher.
Another local resident told Assam Times that they will not allow the police yo remain in peace untill and unless the culprit is hanged.
“We want justice. We won't let off police unless capital punishment is ensured for the perpetrators.”
But police claimed to have caught a person in this connection on Thursday who is being interrogated to identify his associates and to know the circumstances.
