Tangla College bids farewell to Rabindra Kr. Sarmah
“The company of students are the driving force of my life and teachers are a kind of psychiatrist as dealing with scores of students they become acquainted with human psychology” said Professor Rabindra Kr. Sarmah the outgoing HOD of English, Tangla College on his farewell ceremony on Wednesday.
The Department of English of Tangla College bid a farewell to Professor Rabindra Kr. Sarmah who retired as Head of the Department of English on Wednesday.
The farewell meeting was held at the Department of English of Tangla College which was chaired by Professor Jayanta Kr. Chakravorty,Associate Professor of the dept.
In the meeting, Prof. Shubra Ghosh and Prof. Chakravorty recalling 34 years of meritorious service life of Prof. Rabindra Kr. Sarmah become nostalgic. "The sincerity and dedication of Sarmah towards his service life will remain a inspiration for us", the speakers said.
The students also delivered words on the ocassion. The students and teachers feted the outgoing HOD with phulam gamosa,japi,bouquets and packets of gifts as a token of love and appreciation. The programme was lively with performances of students.
Prof.Rabindra Kr. Sarmah who joined Tangla College in the year 1984 had previously served Sipajhar College,Goreswar College ,LOKD College, Dhekiyajuli and Mangaldai College for a brief stinct of time. Sarmah also has a collection of poems 'Love Hymns Under the Canopy of Sunshine' published to his credit.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
