The Smart India Hackathon 2017 held on April 1-2 at Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management & Technology (GIMT), Guwahati was successfully concluded. 31 teams from across the country participated in the event - each team comprising of six students and two mentors. The participating teams offered digital solutions to 11 problems put forward by the Ministry of DoNER.
The team ‘Bitcoders’ from Gandhi Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar led by Ravi Prakash Gupta was declared winners of the competition held at the Guwahati nodal centre. The first and second runners up of the competition were respectively, ‘Stark’ from MM Engineering College, Mullana, Ambala and ‘Detect & Direct’ from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. The team ‘Matrix’ from Assam Don Bosco University, Azara, Guwahati won the persistent inspirational award. All the winners were awarded cash prizes in the final with amounts Rs. 1,00,000 for winners, Rs. 75,000 for 1st Runners, Rs. 50,000 for 2nd Runner and persistent inspirational award of Rs. 10,000 and all the prizes were sponsored by DoNER Ministry.
The closing ceremony was featured with cultural presentations from the GIMT students. Different delegates present in the closing ceremony includes Chief Guest, Shri Naveen Verma, Secretary Ministry of DoNER, Vice Chairman of AICTE, Dr. M.P. Poonia among other members from Shrimanta Shankar Academy Dispur and other officers from DoNER Ministry.
